Introduction to a Joint Research Project with Maria from Aberystwyth University, UK
From April 2024, I have had the opportunity to conduct joint research in Japan for approximately five months with Ms. Maria from Aberystwyth University in the United Kingdom. I first met Maria in 2023 at an international conference held in France. At that time, I introduced the research I have been working on, which involves image analysis, and she expressed a strong interest in my work. This led us to apply together for a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Fellowship.
As of this April, Maria has officially joined us as a JSPS Fellowship researcher, and we are now collaborating on research projects. She actively participates in discussions and engages enthusiastically in field sampling and data collection. Maria is an outstanding researcher with a passionate and proactive approach to her work. Being able to exchange ideas and perspectives with someone from a different academic and cultural background has made our collaboration intellectually stimulating and highly valuable.
I am genuinely looking forward to continuing our joint research and further deepening international academic exchange through this opportunity.
The following photos capture scenes from our research discussions and moments when we went out for data and sample collection in the field.
